Coronavirus outbreak is spreading vigorously till date the total confirmed number of cases globally stands at 27,08,508 and 1,90,785 have died and 7,37,994 have recovered. In India, the number of positive COVID-19 cases rose to 23,077 and 718 people have lost their lives to the deadly virus and 4,749 have recovered. 

The Indian government and state governments are taking every essential step to tackle the spread of Coronavirus. On, Thursday 23rd April the Bengal government conducted the highest number of tests in a single day. 

West Bengal recorded its highest single-day strike as 58 new positive Coronavirus cases came into highlight from the state after 958 Coronavirus test was conducted, as per the data released by the Union Health Ministry. 

Approximately, 80 per cent of the new Coronavirus cases have been reported from Kolkata and its adjoining areas which makes the city the epicentre of COVID-19 outbreak. Kolkata’s civic body has classified 150 areas as containment zones to combat the spread. 

The total active COVID-19 cases in the state are 514 with 103 recoveries and the death toll rose to 57

As per the reports of India today, West Bengal Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha said, "There is a major concern around asymptomatic patients. It is difficult to identify them. Across the country, more than 70 per cent cases are asymptomatic. If the lockdown is withdrawn on May 4, then it will be a big challenge. With symptomatic patients, we are tracking them through mobile app, frontline healthcare workers and surveillance. It is difficult to track who is getting infected by whom."
