In Haryana, the Jind district administration has sealed up the village of Shadipur in Julana after 24 residents tested positive. As per the reports of Times of India, it's said a fellow villager returned from Gurugram on July 8 after attending a wedding.

He smoked hookah with his friends, which spread the virus among others who came in contact with him. The gram Panchayat has officially banned hookah in the village currently to curb the spread. Villagers have formed a committee to keep an eye on hookah smoking and has also decided to start a sanitisation drive.

Senior medical officer Gopal Goyal of Jind civil hospital believes, hookah has been a major source of transmission. In an interview with TOI, he said, “When the COVID-19 cases suddenly increased in the village, we found hookah to be a major source of transmission of the virus. Hookah smoking is a common practice in villages and has to be avoided to check the COVID-19 outbreak.”

Do take this seriously, stop smoking up or smoking hookah for a while until we demolish COVID-19. Until, then if you still wish to smoke hookah do it on your own not with your friends because we don't really know who has what.

BE SAFE, BE AT HOME
