17,000 new cases of novel coronavirus were registered and are the highest single-day hike of positive cases in India. The total number of Covid-19 cases rose to 490K and 15,301 people have lost their lives to the deadly virus and 286K have recovered.
While India saw 17,296 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus disease on Friday, the death toll crossed the 15,000-mark with 407 fatalities on Friday. 26th June was the seventh consecutive day when coronavirus cases increased by more than 14,000.

Maharashtra has reported the highest number of cases at 1,47,741 followed by Delhi at 73,780, Tamil Nadu at 70,977, Gujarat at 29,520, Uttar Pradesh at 20,193, Rajasthan at 16,296 and West Bengal at 15,648, according to ministry data.
