Let's take a moment to feel proud of India's another biggest achievement, the completion of India's first underwater metro in Kolkata. Yes, you read it right after missing several deadlines India's first underwater metro was inaugurated by the honourable Union Minister for Railways and Commerce Piyush Goyal.

Isn't it exciting you'll get to travel underwater now in the metro, every day? Well, I'm a bit scared but extremely proud of India's first underwater metro which is going to connect Kolkata's twin city Howrah it'll run underwater in Hooghly river via the metro rail system.

It'll help the citizens as it'll take less time to cover the 520km distance. As, if you cross Howrah bridge through a ferry on the Hoogly river it'll take 20 minutes and if you take a bus cause of the terrific traffic it takes an hour. As soon as India's first underwater metro opens it's door for the citizens of the city of joy it'll take less than a minute.

The East-West Metro corridor can approximately carry 9 lakh people. The truncated 5-kilometre route is going to connect the city’s technical hub. It commenced for public service on 14th February from Salt lake to Yuva Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake stadium).

The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited is executing a 16.60 Km stretch connecting Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan, it is going to connect the twin city of Kolkata Howrah. 5.8 km stretch is an elevator corridor and 10.2 Km will run underground also a 520 meter under twin tunnels underground is a part of it.
