As darkness fell, the football legend and Argentina’s favourite son Diego Maradona passed away on 25th November aged 60, sparking mourning across the globe.

The world is paying tribute to the outrageously skilful Maradona, fondly known as the ‘hand of god’.  A stadium in Kadambagchi on the outskirts of Barasat, was renamed after the football legend on Friday, where the legend was last seen in India.

Diego Maradona dribbled for the first and last in India on December 12, 2017, at Aditya School of Sports Stadium, for a friendly match, “ Diego vs Dada” against our very own Souurav Ganguly witnessed by 30,000 people.

Kolkata, gets the first-ever cricket stadium in the world, named after the golden boy “Diego Maradona Aditya School of Sports Cricket Stadium’.

Anirban Aditya, the chairman of Aditya group said, the BCCI approved international size stadium was built within 4 months, keeping the legend in mind.

He recalled the time spent with the maestro, "I remember taking Maradona from his five-star hotel. He was exhausted but when he saw the crowd, he became full of life. Initially, it was to be a 45-minute affair but it went on. He had promised he would be back and train the kids. So as a tribute to him we have named the stadium after him."

The world can never forget Maradona’s contribution to the world of football and Aditya group’s tribute to the golden boy.
