The Double-decker buses were first introduced by the British in the year 1928 on the streets of  Kolkata back then known as Calcutta. These iconic double-decker buses were once the daily mode of transport till the late 90’s.

Last year, rumours did the rounds that the legendary double-decker bus will be back on the streets of Kolkata. The West Bengal Transport Corporation has acquired four double-decker buses for the city and they are set to give you London vibes, which were promised about wondering why?

Well, because the top deck of the bus doesn’t have a roof which is going to help the citizens or the tourists to rediscover the city of joy from a different perspective with a swankier look.

The state transport corporation is waiting for a response, merely a formality from the Central Institute of State Transport. As per the reports of Times of India, it’s said West Bengal Transportation will receive the final nod by the mid of this month and after the final certification is done two buses are set to hit the road by the end of March.

Kolkata is going to create history for being the first metropolitan city in the country to introduce the latest developed model of double-decker buses. Unlike, the previous double-deckers, which were fuel guzzlers the revamped double-decker buses will be introduced as the electric bus. Two double-decker buses which are scheduled to hit the streets by the end of March are going to run on diesel.
