Recently, President Donald Trump conducted a daily Coronavirus disease task force briefing on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at the White House in Washington DC.
The world was baffled by Trump’s disinfectant claims, he asked the health advisors to check if COVID-19 victims can be injected with disinfectants or alcohol. As it knocks the virus out in a minute, one minute.
Donald Trump further added, is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because, you see it gets into the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs.
British firm Reckitt Benckiser (RB), which makes disinfectants and household products such as Dettol and Lysol, stated "under no circumstance" disinfectant should be injected or ingested.
The makers of Dettol have issued a press release citing Trump’s disinfectant claims and has asked people not to inject themselves with Disinfectant. Due to the ongoing speculation, the manufacturers of Lysol and Dettol has been asked whether the disinfectants can be used a treatment for COVID-19.
In a statement, RB said, "As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route). As with all products, our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines. Please read the label and safety information."
However, Trump recently admitted it was a sarcastic comment which has been wrongly circulated.
