Kolkata, Tuesday, April 18: For the first time ever, a fashion extravaganza like no other is all geared up to take the country by storm! INDIAN FASHION LEAGUE (IFL) aspires to bring to the audience both local and international trends in fashion, as a league of fashion teams each owned by a franchisee and comprising a designer, a certain number of fashion models and a celebrity face to represent each team fight it out on the ramp until one team grabs the winners title.

The very first season of IFL had its inaugural announcement at Gharana, The Oberoi Grand, on Tuesday, 18th April 2017 with Bollywood actress Ms GAUAHAR KHAN as the Face of IFL. Other dignitaries present at the event included Mr Prasanta Saha, CEO of IFL, Cecil Antony, Director of NSHM and Varun Chibber, General Manager of The Oberoi Grand Kolkata.

Explaining the concept of the grand event, Mr Saha said, “Indian Fashion League has been conceived on the lines of a competition amongst leading designers, newcomers and models who would showcase their thoughts, garments and concepts as part of teams to be owned by a corporate/business unit. Over the three days of the League, each team would be presenting their outfits through a show following a particular theme. Each of such exposition by the teams would be critically judged by a select team of eminent personalities from various fields. The team which gets the highest point will become the winner.

The Indian Fashion League will be held from 25th to 27th May 2017 at The Oberoi Grand Kolkata.

Speaking about Indian Fashion League, Gauahar Khan, the face of IFL went on to say, “Kolkata is just getting special by the day for me, with my association with Begum Jaan and now IFL. This is a great opportunity to deepen my connection, association with Kolkata. This is a great concept. I love fashion and I love the fact that Kolkata as a city is so fashion forward, especially the youth. I hope that Indian Fashion League goes pan-India and we have seasons in many other cities a well.”

IFL will see ramp shows presenting the designs of each designer. The fashion shows will continue for 3 days, with a fresh fashion lines each day by the respective designer teams. The fashion lines would primarily represent the Ethnic, Western, Indo-western & Resort wear categories. The event that continues for three days will also see an auction day on which franchisers would pick their teams and a grand event finale.

The names of the participating designer, models and franchises will be announced shortly.
