The number of Coronavirus cases is globally rising and the pandemic is spreading profusely across the world. The pandemic has left the world in shock, the disease which started from a small city in China, Wuhan gradually Government across the world has imposed temporary lockdown to prevent the diseases from spreading.   

As per the reports, In India 130 cases of coronavirus have been registered till date with three deaths reported. Across India, many state governments have already closed down schools, colleges, universities, government offices and have also requested the private firms to allow their employees to work from home to control the spread of Covid-19. 

West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has tightened her grip to tackle coronavirus in her state. Recently, Mamata Banerjee has announced school, colleges, universities will be closed till 15th April. She has also announced movie theatres in the state will be closed till 31st March. As it’s observed the virus gets worse in the third stage and spreads through social contact in a public gathering. 

She said, there’s no harm if the theatres, auditoriums and stadiums are closed for a few days for a special situation. Mamata Banerjee has also announced, their government will prepare a fund of Rs. 200 crore to fight the virus in Bengal. 

Also, on 15th March, the film Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE), Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA), Western India Film Producers’ Association (WIFPA) and Indian Film and TV Producers Council (IFTPC) has decided to close down shooting for web series, movies, serials from 19th March to 31st March to avoid the coronavirus outbreak. 

This decision is going to affect the film industry of our country, mostly the television sector. It’ll also take a toll on the Bengali film industry, soon the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA), Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI), West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum and other bodies will sit for an emergency meeting keeping in mind the health priority of the cast and crew.
