The definition of entertainment is evolving day by day. Now web media holds a significant position in the world of entertainment crossing the line of Film and television. Keeping that in mind Rajiv Mehra of Addatimes Media Pvt. Ltd. is set to webcast Bengal's first ever original web-series "Detective B C Baal" shot entirely for the maiden Bengali web-entertainment site Addatimes.com.

The story is based on the detective B C Baal. Saidur Rehman, who played Sher Singh Rana in Bhag Milkha Bhag, bagged the lead role. The character of the detective is a bit different from other detectives. His character is somewhat greyish because he is tough on the outside and vulnerable from within. The character is stylish, cerebral and romantic.

Talking to Rajiv Mehra, he said, “We are getting into a loop mode. Material from television is webcast and people do not have anything new. It is to give fillip to this desire to get different and better quality content that addatimes.com has been conceived. And we are launching it with B C Baal.”

"Conceived, created and cast on web for this generation of netizens who love to be connected every second of their lives, B C Baal is the perfect opium for a break from monotony of repeated viewing of the same old thing. This is just the beginning we are coming with a whole platter of content that will attract the Bengali viewer across the globe," he added.

Speaking about the experience of playing the lead role Sahidur Rehman said, “I am extremely proud to have got an opportunity of being something historic.”

Sahidur plays a negative role in Kaabil too and wants to explore all medium. “After 2004-05 this is the first Bengali venture. It is something so special. This is my first web series. We have a very young team who are creative and caring. I am sure people will love Baal”, he said.

Since web is the youngsters’ medium, director Korok Murmu assures that the web series belong to Gen-Y. The series will contain different cases with different name such as ‘Mistress of Spice’, ‘Who let the dog out’ etc. "The concept is very challenging. It is a satire on the society. It is also fun. It is dark and yet intelligent. You have to see to believe. Baal will get under your skin sometimes”, the director said.
