Dev rose to fame with his commercial films and there was a time when the superstar was typecast as a commercial romantic hero. Lately, the Password actor can be seen experimenting with the content of his films. However, earlier his films weren’t content-oriented, it had a basic storyline of a romantic hero trying to win his lover amidst all the struggles.

Well, his last few films such as Champ, Kabir, Password were totally content driven movies and these films were highly appreciated by the audience. You might have thought what made Dev take a step back from the typical commercial cinema. Recently, in an interview with Times of India Dev revealed what we can expect from his upcoming films and why he is experimenting with different content?

Dev said, when I watch Bollywood or other regional movies, I feel jealous. As they come up with great content. Here, we have done numerous south remakes that we have studied their work very closely. Over the years, other industries have mixed and come up with excellent concepts, ideas and subjects. I believe we are not bothered about our subjects also we are reluctant enough to look at what other regional industries are producing.

The actor further said, we are mostly doing the same thing over and over again and this is my opinion and I’m not blaming anyone from the industry. So, we have to come up with new content which will be on par with the film with the films happening across the country. We made Password because we have to tell today’s story to our audience to reach out to them.

Dev further said, if you look at my box office record then you would see I have had many huge box office success but now I want to give something to the industry and I will continue to do what I am doing. This is the future. There was a period when the Bengali film industry was dominating the world with stalwarts like Satyajit Ray, Tapan Sinha, Ritwik Ghatak and others.

If we wish to bring back that era, then we need to experiment and take a little risk. The Tolly superstar will be next seen in Tonic.
