Arati Das aka Miss Shefali who was known as the ‘Queen of Cabaret’ passed away on Thursday 6th February around 6 am at her Sodepur residence in Kolkata. Miss Shefali rocked the 60’s - 70’s cabaret night space in Kolkata the time when most of the European dancers were leaving India. 
 
As per reports, the queen of Cabaret suffered from kidney ailment for a long time and today she left us at the age of 74 years. Miss Shefali wooed the Bollywood stars and Tollywood stars with her killer moves be it Uttam Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Suchitra Sen leaving everyone spellbound.
 
 
Miss Shefali was the first Bengali cabaret dancer in Kolkata. People used to call her Sandhyer Raater Shefali which means Twilight’s Shefali conquered the cabaret world with her formidable moves and charisma.
 
 
Miss Shefali’s popularity gave her the privilege to work with the pioneer filmmaker Satyajit Ray in movies like Pratidwandi and Seemabaddha and further starred in several other movies. The Queen of Cabaret later joined theatre after Tarun Kumar (Buro Da) urged her, some of Miss Shefali’s plays include ‘Samrat o Sundari’, ‘Saheb Bibi Golam’ and Ashlil. 
 
 
Last year, it was reported Konkona Sen Sharma is set to make her digital debut as a director with a web series based on the life of Miss Shefali.
