West Bengal on Friday registered 35 demises and 2,216 new active cases of the infectious virus in last 24 hours. The total number of cases rose 53,973 and the active number of cases in the state rose to 19,154.

The containment list released on Tuesday, shows it has four Alipore areas on the list and it is now officially the worst-hit COVID zones in the city.

Belvedere Road and Alipore Road is on the hotspot list since weeks now. While Judges court road and Raja Santosh Road made it to the list 72 hours ago. Two premises on Ashoka Road and Burdwan road have been marked as high-risk areas.

Behala now has reported over 850 COVID cases in the last four months. On Friday we saw a rise in containment zones with four stretches in Majherhat and Haridevpur.

Currently, there are 250 active cases in Behala many of them are from Parnasree, east Behala and Roy Bahadur Road.

“Given the population of Behala, deaths have been sparse and recovery has been high. However, the total count of 850 is considerably high and we are asking people to maintain social distancing. We are also telling them not to panic as less than one-third cases are active now." said a senior divisional officer.
