On 15th August, we will be celebrating 74th Independence Day. This year the celebration will be profound to be way different than every year for the ongoing pandemic.

This year, a diaspora group in the United States for the first time in history will hoist India's National Flag at the Times Square in New York.

As per reports, for the first time Indian flag will be unfurled at the iconic location in New York. Like every year, illuminating the Empire state building in Tri-color will be be held on 14 August.

This news was confirmed by The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) of the tri-state area of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.

Officials said, It will be the first time ever that India's tricolour will be unfurled at the iconic venue in all its glory. The Times Square flag hoisting ceremony is a testament to the Indian-American community's growing patriotism and is a fitting tribute to the FIA which is celebrating its golden jubilee year.

Consul General of India in New York Randhir Jaiswal is the Guest of Honour at the Independence day event.
