Doctors, scientists across the globe are in the race to develop a vaccine or drug to curb the deadliest COVID-19 virus which has infected more than 10 million people and caused more than 500,000 Deaths.

India became the World's fourth-worst hit nation with cases stood at 6,25,544 with 20,903 registered in a single day till Friday.

Recently, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in partnership with Bharat Biotech developed a conceivable Novel Coronavirus drug called Covaxin. Ahmedabad based Zydus Cadila has been given the green signal to begin phase I and II human trials of other coronavirus candidates.

Several institutes have been selected for the clinical trials of the deadly COVID-19 vaccine, as per the reports of government's top medical research body.

This is the second COVID-19 vaccine to get approval for clinical trials in India. ICMR shared their plans to launch the vaccine for the public health on August 15, Independence Day.

The final output depends on the cooperation of all human trial sites involved in this project. They have advised to speed up approvals related to human trials.

Research body said It is envisaged to launch the vaccine for public health use latest by 15th August 2020 after completion of all clinical trials.
