After the farmer's protest, India is going to witness another national protest on 11th December held by Indian Medical Association. On, 8th December all non – Covid and non – emergency services shall be halted for two hours.

In response to the decision taken by the CCIM, on 1st December, IMA announced doctors practising modern medicine to withdraw non- Covid and non-essential services on 11th December from 6 AM to 6 PM.

The protest is against Central Council of Indian Medicine which authorized postgraduate practitioners of Ayurveda in specific streams to be trained to perform general surgical procedures.

However, the Emergency services will function along with ICUs and CCUs but no elective surgical case will be posted, IMA confirmed.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) demands an immediate withdrawal of both the decisions, stating that the notification by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) to allow the legal practice of surgeries by Ayurveda practitioners and the formation of four committees by NITI Aayog for the integration of all systems of medicine will only lead to "mixopathy".

"The recent policy tilt as evidenced in the medical pluralism advocated by the National Education Policy 2020 and the four committees of NITI Aayog for officially integrating the systems of medicine in medical education, practice, public health and administration as well as research ostensibly for a one nation one system policy will ring the death knell of modern medicine system as a whole," IMA national president Dr Rajan Sharma said.

IMA belives this is another step of in advancing and legitimising mixopathy and this can be dangerous for the people. As the Ayurveda doctors have no idea about modern medicines and its operations.
