Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today and urged everyone to maintain social distancing and other norms to curb the Virus spread. As India's COVID-19 crossed a milestone of 5.5 Lakh today.

During PM Modi's 16 minute address to the nation, he urged the state and local authorities to take more responsibility for strict implementation of Unlock 2.0 guidelines.

He asked everyone to take care of themselves and their loved ones during unprecedented times. He said, due to the timely lockdown several lives were possible to save and the death rate of India is the lowest in the world.

Free ration will be provided to the poor till November under the Garib Kalyan Yojana scheme. Around 80 crore people will receive free ration which will cost ₹90 crore.

He brought into highlights, the country is moving towards 'one nation, one scheme card', which will be beneficial for the poor who travels across the country for work.

Schools, colleges, cinema halls, gyms will remain shut to curb the spread of the virus.

The Lockdown will be extended in the containment zones till 31st July.

PM Modi thanked the taxpayers and farmers for helping the government and the country during unprecedented times. He said, if the government is able to provide free food to the people, it's because of the taxpayers and farmers.

31,000 crore people benefited from Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

He said, be it the Prime Minister or local netas, no one is above the law and everyone should follow the rules and regulations.

He reiterated the pledge to work towards Atmanirbhar Bharat and to be vocal for local.
